Blue Ain’t My Color
By Diane Neil, High Desert Branch
I’m thinking of cancelling my subscription to the daily newspaper. They’ve been downsizing the paper AND the staff, getting interns to work for free, and shrinking the size of the paper. Now even the Sunday edition is mostly ads.
And the news? They keep putting murder and mayhem, robberies, warmongering, and nonsense like that in the headlines then relegating really important stuff to the back pages where they’ll scarcely be seen. Here’s an item I came across that made my blood boil. I quote the tiny headline: Dandelion out for new hue at Crayola.
How dare they! Not only is dandelion biting the dust, but other discontinued colors are maize, raw umber, and orange yellow. It’s a conspiracy, I tell you. All the light, bright, happy colors are disappearing. And what are they coming up with?
I quote the article: Crayola announced Friday, National Crayon Day, that it’s replacing the color dandelion in its 24-pack with a color in the blue family.
BLUE? Depressing, somber, sad. I’m getting up a petition to boycott Crayola. The line forms right here.
