California Writers Club Membership Information
CWC members range from published authors and industry pros to the aspiring novice. We write in all genres. Each branch holds meetings with guest speakers who talk about the craft and business of writing. The branches also sponsor writing contests, workshops, writing conferences, and other special events for writers. Visit the websites of the branches for details; see the About page for links.
There are two categories of membership, active and associate. Both active and associate members are eligible to sit on the central board of directors.
Active membership is accorded those writers whose work is in print or under contract with a publisher of standing. Associate members are not yet published but their work shows clear evidence of writing merit. Non-writing literary professionals, including agents, booksellers, publishers, producers, directors and book illustrators qualify as associate members.
The annual membership dues for active and associate members are $45, plus a one-time $20 initiation fee.
Membership is through individual branches. We do not have members-at-large. For more information, go to the About page on this site and click on the link for the branch nearest you.
