Writing
By Betty Lee Speckles, East Sierra Branch
I opened a window in my soul
dreams poured forth
I placed my pen to paper
words burst forth
I wrote faster and faster
excitement building to a crescendo
I felt like shouting to the world
“I’ve discovered me –
I know what I should be
I’m in love with life again
I’ve unlocked my pen”
Painter, writer, and columnist (“I Was Just Thinking” and “An Artist on Art”)
Betty Lee Speckles (1925-1999) – a founding member and first membership chair
of the East Sierra Branch – wrote this inspiring poem c. 1987.
